Why am I here, why are you there? This existential question (which is also part of a lyric to one of my songs) is the reason for my web site... Why would someone listen to another person’s music? The answer to this question is the reason why some of us are famous and rich, and some of us have a web site as a last desperate attempt to connect with people who might like their music.
Mind you, the famous and rich have web sites, but I guarantee you they’re not sitting and obsessing about why they have a web site, someone else does that for them. And I do recognize that some people only listen to music if there’s a very sexy person shaking their booty while they sing…..I’m not optimistic that I could sell songs using that approach, although a select few, well informed pretty ladies might take me to task on that point. Or not... this is only one of the many delusions that I will exercise, simply because I have my own web site….

Yet it is true that I decided to have a web site because I’ve reached the conclusion that none of the major labels is going to be calling me soon to inform me that one of the CDs that I sent them has been selected for production. It is very hard to get anyone interested in your original music if you’re not out doing gigs to promote it. Even then it’s a long shot, but you at least have a venue for developing local fans who will often be interested in your CDs. So I’m hoping that I’ve accomplished two things here: 1)Arouse your compassion as a human being to such a degree that you’ll buy one of my CDs just to help me restore my wounded ego, or better still ; 2)Arouse your curiosity about music that is fresh, insightful, and pretty much unexplored by anyone on the planet with the exception of a few close friends and relatives. I mean, hey, this stuff could be great!
Of course I’m providing a few bars of a few tunes here for you to check out, but do bear in mind that I’m not promoting myself as a vocalist. Yes, I’m singing, although I do have a few guest artists on some CDs who actually have exquisite voices. I guess my preference for the female over the male voice colors my judgment, in spite of the fact that Ray Charles is my favorite vocalist. But try to not be too critical about my voice, and just enjoy the songs, which represent a true attempt on my part to create something of value. (The singing represents a valiant effort to overcome my limited range and tonal quality….)
Calling All Musicians/Songwriters!
I also include a large list of songs by style and by lyrical content, so that if you’re looking for a particular type of song, you can check it out. The lyrics of all the songs are available on another page. If you’re an artist who is interested in collaborating on one or more of my tunes, I’d be happy to work with you. My biggest hope is that other musicians may find a song or two to their liking, and want to perform and promote their version of it. Probably the only chance of my songs reaching the larger public would be through the songs being picked up by other artists who perform and promote their acts on a full time basis.
So check out the tunes, and please let me know if there’s something you like. I intend to market the CDs on the ‘CD BABY’ web site. I will also sell individual song downloads. Sure do hope you like the music…..
